Who are we? We are your concerned neighbors, who live in Ellis County, most of us joining protests for the first time in our lives due to our frustration with the outrageous spending policies coming out of Washington. Our efforts are to get Congress' attention, to let them know we do not like their out-of-control spending and that we will not be ignored. Our members have diverse opinions, however our 6 Core Principles provide our inspiration and the glue that binds us together.
How did this group come into being? Back in the Spring 2009, 5 Ellis County residents started the “Ellis County Tea Party”. At the same time, “We the People of Texas in Ellis County”, “Ellis County Conservatives”, and "9-12 of Ellis County" began organizing citizens as well. All four groups were alarmed with the direction our government entities were leading our country. Because of expediency “Ellis County Tea Party”, "We the People of Texas in Ellis County”, and "9-12 of Ellis County" have come together to lobby against radical policies in an organized, unified, effective manner through all peaceful methods available to us. Our goal is to reclaim our country, applying pressure wherever necessary to return to the precepts established in our country's founding documents. “Ellis County Conservatives” is still active in Ellis County, and we support their efforts in bringing common sense back to America even though they have decided to continue to work independently in Ellis County.
What does our organization do? Participate in monthly meetings, demonstrations, grow our membership, educate ourselves and others as to what our government entities are doing and how to best confront and defeat any radical policies. We are in contact with other conservative organizations aroung the state, working together to consolidate our power.
How is Ellis County Tea Party associated with the Dallas Tea Party? Texas' various grassroots resistance groups are beginning to form like-minded coalitions. The Dallas Tea Party and ECTP are united in goals. If you want to be informed on what's going on in the State of Texas. We recommend you also join the Dallas Tea Party. They regularly send out 'Updates" via e-mail that are action oriented.
Are you affiliated with any political party? We are an independent grassroots conservative movement with no political party affiliation. However, many of our members are working within the Republican Party to bring our country back to its constitutional roots. The Republican Party Platform is more alligned with what the Tea Party stands for than the Democratic Party's Platform. But we are under no circumstances an arm of the Republican Party. (They wish we were) We are fighting for our country, not a political party.
Are there any membership dues? Absolutely not! While there are no dues or membership fees necessary for membership, we do appreciate any time or money you have to volunteer/donate for special projects. There will be many opportunities as our organization grows. We are completely manned and funded by voluntary participation. We do ask for donations at our meetings to help us with the cost of renting a room, advertising, website fees, purchasing constitutions, printing costs, etc. and we have a donate page for those who would like to donate conveniently through our website. We keep a balance sheet of monies collected and how it is used. Any contributions made to defray operational costs are completely voluntary and appreciated; however, do not qualify as an income tax contribution deduction.
Privacy Rights. Do you share membership information? By the nature of our organization, we feel that an individual's right to privacy is sacred. For that reason, we will NEVER share your information with a third party.
I know the issues and how I will vote. Why should I join an organization? There is strength in numbers. Together we can present a unified effort, efficiently targeted, and without duplication. Simply put, one ant does not make an ant hill.
